Biography
The boat was built at the Bonnin Frères shipyard in Lormont, to a design by naval architect François Camatte. It was launched on July 20, 1929, by Baron Philippe de Rothschild.
It is a 6 meter International Gauge, class of regatta boat, abbreviated 6MJI.
This is the fourth of the 6MJI named CUPIDON out of the five owned by Philippe de Rothschild.
- Cupidon Cyprien in 1926 (Joseph Guédon plans);
- Cupidon Riquet in 1927 (François Camatte plans);
- Cupidon Viking in 1927 for the 1928 Olympics;
- Cupidon Fou in 1929 (François Camatte plans);
- Cupidon Prudence in 1930, (fife plan).
In 2018, the Bordeaux Sea Marine Museum belonging to Norbert Fradin acquired this boat classified as a Historic Monument. An in-depth restoration will be carried out by the workshops of the Rochefort arsenal, the Despierres and Leret shipyards, under the direction of the DRAC.
