Sails & Vineyards: where the peoples of the world meet the Bordeaux art of living
From 7 to 11 July 2027, Bordeaux will cast off and become a true port of call for international cultures and interactions. United under the Sails & Vineyards banner, The Tall Ships Races and Bordeaux Wine Festival will host a major public celebration with an open invitation to admire the tall ships, taste world-renowned wines and celebrate together on the quays, while giving younger generations a taste for international adventure and cultural exchange. This is a unique opportunity to reconnect with the spirit of the great ocean voyages, so closely linked to the history of Bordeaux wines.
The Tall Ships Races set sail from Bordeaux
In 2027, Bordeaux will be the starting port of The Tall Ships Races 2027. Thirty-seven years after the Cutty Sark, this will be only the second time that this annual international race has called at Bordeaux! For five days, the quays will come alive to the sounds of languages, music and traditions from all corners of the globe, brought by the majestic tall ships and their colourful crews.
Around forty exceptional vessels will berth at the Port of the Moon, offering visitors a unique immersion in the maritime world. Here, interaction, discovery and sharing will take centre stage, with sailors, residents and travellers coming together in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The race revolves around the commitment of the organising association – Sail Training International – to foster international friendships and train young people in the art of sailing on training ships. Some 200 trainee sailors will be participating. On 11 July, after a final celebration, the tall ships will set sail once again for A Coruña and then Sines, leaving behind lasting memories of connections between peoples, cultures and generations.

A vast quayside village with Bordeaux Wine Festival
Four kilometres of the “Sails & Vineyards” village will line the quays of Bordeaux: a free event, open to all, with no booking required; and the promise of a unique encounter between maritime traditions and the excellence of the vineyards.
At the heart of the Port of the Moon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, exceptional tall ships will stand alongside wine-tasting pavilions. All around them, parades of ships and crews, concerts, entertainment, wine tastings, servings of local culinary specialities and spectacular evening shows will bring the quays to life.
As it has done every year since 2018, Bordeaux Wine Festival will showcase the rich diversity of wines from Bordeaux and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, uniting winegrowers, merchants, residents and visitors from all around the world in a shared pleasure: celebrating the winemaking expertise of France’s leading organic wine-producing department. Two tasting passes will enable visitors to make the most of the experience: the “Pass 10+” (10 tastings and a workshop at the École du Vin) and the “Pass 4”, ideal for a short introduction.
The nautical village, set up along the quays between the Chartrons district and the official pavilion, will be one of the focal points of Sails & Vineyards. Open from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 p.m., it will offer visitors opportunities to relax and socialise: entertainments, leisure activities and refreshments, all within an immersive setting – designed as a stopover within the stopover itself, where visitors can extend the experience and fully savour the spirit of the festival.
