Tall Ships Races – setting sail from Bordeaux from 7 to 11 July 2027

The Tall Ships Races 2027: the return, 37 years after the Cutty Sark (1990)

For the second time since its creation, the Tall Ships Races will be calling at Bordeaux. The fleet of tall ships will arrive in Bordeaux on Wednesday 7 July for five days of celebrations along the quayside. On Sunday 11 July, the sailing ships will set off from Bordeaux – the starting point of the race – bound for A Coruña (Spain) and then on to Sines (Portugal).

The ocean as a classroom: immersive learning

Sail Training International is the international charity behind the Tall Ships Races, the most famous international races for tall training ships since 1956, which were created to introduce young people to the world of sailing. For nearly 70 years, it has been striving to support the personal development and education of young people aged 15 to 25 by offering them a unique experience at sea aboard majestic historic and modern tall ships from around the world.

Beyond sailing, Sail Training International promotes experiential learning based on cooperation, self-discovery, responsibility and self-confidence. Its programmes and scholarships provide thousands of young people – including those from disadvantaged backgrounds – with life-changing opportunities to develop their potential, build resilience and take part in an extraordinary human adventure.
