Biography

The Europa is a Dutch three-masted barque with a steel hull and was built in Hamburg in 1911.
At the time of her launch in Hamburg, she was intended for coastal sailing and bore the name FS Senator Brockes. She was later reassigned due to the decline in trade using sailing ships and served as a lightship in the Elbe estuary, until 1977. Later replaced by an automated buoy, she became a reserve vessel in the 1980s. She was bought in 1986 and underwent eight years of work (between 1987 and 1994) during which she was converted into a stunning three-masted vessel for cruises.

She has participated in major sail races all over the world since 1994. The Europa travels the oceans, visits Antarctica from December to March each year, and takes part in the Tall Ships Races in summer.
